Services provided by the programs include but are not limited to the following:
Library Resources
Students have 24/7 remote access to all NMHC library holdings through the Alberto Culver Health Learning Center (HLC), with one of the largest health learning collections in the United States. The HLC’s library resources includes over 1500 books, journals, DVDs, and anatomic models. In addition to these physical/print holdings, students have access to a variety of licensed databases, which includes access to over 750 full-text journals and e-books. Document delivery/interlibrary loan services are available for students who need access to additional non-subscription resources. Each program will provide an orientation to the HLC to ensure the fullest access to available resources.
Occupational Health Service
NM Occupational Health provides initial medical record review and Respiratory Fit Testing.
Student Advising
The NM Academy is committed to potentiating the academic and clinical success of students. To ensure students are able to achieve their education and professional goals, each program offers student advising and tutoring. The Program Director serves as the primary point of contact for student advising and tutoring, in collaboration with clinical/instructional faculty, NM Academy, and other resources to support student success.
Personal Counseling
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a Northwestern Memorial HealthCare service that provides confidential support to students and staff who may have personal concerns that impair, or have the potential to impair, their health and wellbeing and/or their academic/work performance. The EAP offers various counseling services and facilitates referrals.
Uniforms
The hospital provides clinical apparel for students enrolled in the Schools of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, and Radiography and the Medical Assistant Program.
Career Planning
The Program Directors and representatives from the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Human Resources Department provide sessions on resume writing and interviewing skills to prepare graduates for a career in their field.
Professional Societies and Seminars
Students receive discounted membership rates from their national professional society.
