School of Radiation Therapy - Eligibility and Prerequisites
Prospective students of various educational backgrounds may be eligible for program admission. To be considered for admission, prospective students must follow one of the pathways outlined below:
College/University Affiliate Pathway (3+1)
This pathway is for students enrolled in degree programs at the following affiliate colleges/universities: Benedictine University, Carthage College, Elmhurst University, Lewis University, North Central College and Roosevelt University. Students will complete 3 years of undergraduate and prerequisite coursework at their home institution followed by 14 months of clinical training and instruction at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Upon successful completion of degree and program-specific requirements, the student's home institution will confer a baccalaureate degree upon the student and Northwestern Memorial Hospital will award a certificate of completion. Affiliate students must apply to the radiation therapy program and have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better for undergraduate courses. Prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better and prerequisite GPA must be no less than 2.7.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Pathway
This pathway is for applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree (science-related preferred) from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better. Prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better and prerequisite GPA must be no less than 2.7. Upon successful completion of program-specific requirements, Northwestern Memorial Hospital will award the student a certificate of completion.
Certificate Pathway for Radiologic Technologists
This pathway is for applicants who have graduated from a 2-year JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology program with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better. Prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better and prerequisite GPA must be no less than 2.7. All applicants must have an AS degree (or higher) and be registered by the ARRT at the time of matriculation. Upon successful completion of program-specific requirements, Northwestern Memorial Hospital will award the student a certificate of completion.

Prerequisite Courses
The radiation therapy program builds on a strong foundation of the sciences, mathematics, and communication. The following nine prerequisites at an accredited college or university are required with a grade or "C" or better and prerequisite GPA of no less than 2.7:
