Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Post-Primary Certification Training Program
Curriculum and Rotation
The MRI Post Primary Certificate Program is designed to provide the academic background and documented clinical experience necessary to sit for the Magnetic Resonance registry examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
A didactic component is included in both the full-time and part-time program options which will help prepare students to sit for the ARRT Magnetic Resonance board examination. Topics covered include: cross-sectional anatomy, patient safety, patient positioning, image reconstruction, image quality, imaging protocols, physics and scanner instrumentation. Successful completion of this course work will fulfill the necessary didactic requirements for the ARRT Magnetic Resonance board exam.
Students will participate in clinical rotations comprised of a variety of inpatient, outpatient and suburban assignments. Within the rotations, students will have the opportunity to complete and document the procedures required for Magnetic Resonance certification.
Program Hours
The program is scheduled for 40 hours per week for the full-time option, or 20 hours per week for the part-time option. First and second shift hours are available. Weekends are optional. There is a mandatory weekly Laboratory component on Thursdays of each week.
Students will be off six regular holidays per year. Those are:
Outside of regular holidays, students have an additional 40 hours of vacation/personal time off to use at their discretion.
